Bringing AI to NetSuite: New Directions After the AI Connector Launch

Published on August 13, 2025.

I've been thinking about NetSuite's new AI Connector Service and what it means for my AI-focused projects.

The big question for me was how the AI Connector might affect SuiteAnalyzer and my other AI-focused work. At first, it wasn't obvious. But after hands-on testing and conversations with colleagues and clients, I realized two important things:

The AI Connector doesn't provide NetSuite report data to MCP clients like Claude. I think this is a big deal, because SuiteAnalyzer's ability to analyze standard NetSuite reports has been one of its most compelling features.

There are security and compliance concerns that need to be considered and addressed. MCP's handling of data is less transparent than direct API calls, which will likely be a barrier for companies with GDPR or similar requirements. For comparison, take a look at SuiteAnalyzer's GDPR Compliance Statement.

These gaps convinced me that my projects still have a role to play - but I need to make some changes.

Here's what I've decided to do...

SuiteAnalyzer Pivot

I'll be providing a new version of SuiteAnalyzer, which will be purpose-built for a single goal: secure, offline AI analysis of NetSuite reports - on your terms.

This version will focus exclusively on report-based analysis, with built-in capabilities for:
• Income Statement Analysis
• Balance Sheet Analysis
• Trial Balance Analysis
• Executive Summary
• Accounts Receivable Aging Analysis
• Accounts Payable Aging Analysis
• Sales by Sales Rep Analysis
• Orders by Item Analysis
• Pipeline by Sales Rep Summary Analysis
• Total Open Opportunities Summary Analysis
• Industry Financials Comparison

Just like before, you'll be able to interact with the chatbot about these analyses - ask follow-up questions, request formatting changes, and drill into details - without sending data outside your controlled environment.

It's designed for organizations that can't or won't use the AI Connector, making it a compliance-first option for AI-driven insights.

Report Data Extractor Service

The AI Connector's inability to access report data creates an opportunity.

The Report Data Extractor Service will automatically pull data from your standard NetSuite reports - such as Income Statements, Balance Sheets, AR Aging, and Inventory Valuation - and load it into secure custom record types within your own account.

From there, your report data becomes instantly available to AI chatbots like Claude (and other MCP clients) via the AI Connector. You can also repurpose it for external warehouses or analytics platforms. The result: fast, accurate, governed access to your most important data - right where it already lives.

Here's an example of NetSuite report data being provided to Claude via the NetSuite AI Connector Service.

Once the report data is available via the AI Connector, there won't be much of a need for SuiteAnalyzer. Unless, of course, those pesky GDPR requirements are a concern for you.

Suite.js Updates

I'm also moving forward with new features for Suite.js, my JavaScript runtime for NetSuite. These include:
Modern JavaScript engines (JavaScriptCore on macOS, V8 on Windows/Linux).
QueryEngine for running SuiteQL queries locally - no API calls needed.
ScriptEngine for running ad-hoc SuiteScript 2.x code locally.
• Plus a few other "goodies" I'll share soon.

If you're interested, I mentioned some of these changes in this post from last week.

Wrapping Up

After some reflection, I have a clearer picture of NetSuite's AI strategy, what users actually want from AI, and the technical gaps still to be filled.

Release timing:
Pivoted SuiteAnalyzer - Beta in the next week or so.
Report Data Extractor Service - Beta in mid to late September (possibly sooner).
Suite.js updates - Coming when they're ready (meaning "someday").

I'm feeling good about these changes, and my hope is that they'll provide even more ways to leverage AI in NetSuite - securely, efficiently, and in ways that will fit each customer's needs.
